REF2: Output submission management tab
The Output submission management tab of the REF2 form displays information relating to the electronic and physical submission of outputs to REF.
Output submission format
The REF submission requires the Output submission format to be provided (whether Electronic or Physical). The default Output format is selected depending on the REF Output type, as per the REF Submission System defaults. For all output types other than D-Journal article and H-Website content (where 'Electronic' is required), the default value can be overridden.
Output type | Default Output submission format value |
A, B | Physical |
All others | Electronic |
Note that there is no interaction between the Output submission format field and the Current output submission status field; they each must be selected independently.
Electronic / Physical output submission management
You can use the Electronic / Physical output submission functionality to manage the process of acquiring, procuring, or otherwise of electronic and physical copies of outputs for submission to the REF team. This functionality is optional; should you choose not to use it, simply don't create any values in this screen and this section of the REF2 Output submission management tab will not be displayed.
To use this function, you must first create the values you wish to make available to REF managers that will help them manage the electronic / physical output submission process. To input these values, go to the 'Exercise' tab in the Exercise definition. Once values have been created and the Exercise definition saved, this section will appear in the Output submission management tab.
Each value name can be no longer than 75 characters, and a maximum of 15 values are permitted.
Remember to 'Update exercise' at the bottom of the page to save the values.
Note that once a value is created, it cannot be re-named, only deleted. If a value is deleted, if any REF2s have that value selected, the value will be cleared (notes will remain, if input).
