REF2: Data requirements tab
The Data requirements tab in the REF2 form enables you to capture REF-specific metadata, as per the submission requirements. This includes:
REF2 output type
Additional information field
Interdisciplinary, Forensic science, and Criminology flags
Double-weighting requests, statements, and reserves
English abstract

Output date | Provides the Month and Year the output was published. The REF2 form takes the earliest of the 'Online publication date' and the 'Publication date' from the associated Publication | Month will only be returned in the submission XML if the output is attributed to a Cat B member of staff |

Double-weighting
For outputs of extended scale and scope, you may request that the sub-panel weights the output as two. This section enables you to flag an output as double-weighted, provide the necessary statement explaining how the scale and scope of the output satisfies the criteria, and select a reserve should the request not be granted.

Pending output
As the submission deadline is now 31 March 2021, the concept of a 'pending' output no longer applies. This field should no longer be used. Any output flagged as pending or selected as a pending publication reserve will generate a validation error and you will be unable to make your submission.

English abstract
For outputs produced in languages other than English, you are required to provide a short abstract in English, describing the content and nature of the work.
This section only appears in the REF2 form if the output is not produced in English.
We determine an output is produced in English if:
No language provided (i.e. Language field is null, or does not exist on the associated Publication form), or
Language captured on the associated Publication is one of English, En, or Eng
