Elements v5.x to Elements v6.x - Upgrade Checklist
Following upgrade to Elements v6.x from Elements v5.x it is necessary to ensure that a number of configuration steps are completed.
1. Branding
As a part of the redesign of the Elements UI, the ways you can brand the system has been updated. On upgrade the system will drop your existing branding upon upgrade and you will need to re-brand the system after upgrade. You should therefore make a note of your branding configuration before you upgrade.
To configure your Elements branding, you can choose one of our template themes, or create your own custom theme. Branding continues to be able to be configured at the organisational level, or at the primary group level. More information about how to set branding in Elements v6.0 can be found on the support site.
2. Module display names
We have introduced the ability for organisations to set a ‘display name’ for a number of key module names, choosing an alternative name from a defined list. For example the Publications Module can be renamed to ‘Scholarly & Creative Works’.
Following upgrade you may wish to review this new feature and decide whether to change the display name for any of these key modules. More information about how you can update module display names in Elements v6.0 can be found on the support site.
3. Link to public profiles
Discovery Clients;
If your organisation uses Symplectic’s Discovery Module public profile system you should ensure that you add the URL of your discovery instance on the Discovery Module management page (System Admin > Operations > Manage Discovery Module). When the Discovery Module is licensed and enabled this URL will be used to provide a link to the Discovery website in the menu.
It is also possible to enable the display of a link to a user’s public profile on the user’s homepage profile tile. This can be managed on the User profile field settings page (System Admin > User Management > User Profile Field Settings).
Other profile tools;
If you use another public profile system, it is not possible to provide a link to the public profile website in the menu. However, it is still possible to enable the display of a link to a user’s public profile on the user’s homepage profile tile.
