This article provides further detail of what may be involved in the Configuration activity described in How we run implementation projects.

Overview

After your Elements installation is complete you will be able to configure the system. The diagram below outlines the tasks that are required during this activity:

Configuration

The configuration activity of the implementation project is when you first get your hands on the system. We will be there to help you but this activity is your responsibility.

Tip: As Elements is highly configurable we recommend that you record the configuration settings for future reference.

Users and Groups

  • All users have been imported with correct details.

  • All Primary Groups have been created and contain the correct users (members).

  • System and Group roles have been set up.

Search Settings

FOR A SMALL SET OF USERS:

  1. Verify that the Synchroniser completed the work (User Sync Queues are empty and System Log is 'clean').

  2. Verify that data is retrieved from all publication data sources to which you has access.

  3. Verify that the publications that were expected to be found were found during Synchronisation.

  4. Verify that the data is displayed to the end-user as expected (citations, journal metrics, data source precedence).
